The break-even math for boosting
A boost only makes sense if the extra exposure creates more profit than the fee takes away. Rough method: take the boost fee per sale from the calculator, then ask how many extra sales per 100 listings the boost has to create to cover it. If a $4.20 boost fee eats most of your margin on a $35 item, boosting needs a large lift in sell-through to pay for itself.
- Boost is charged only when the item sells, so unsold boosted listings cost nothing.
- Refunds reverse the boost fee along with the other fees.
- Higher-priced items absorb the same percentage far more painfully — check the profit line.
Depop boost questions
- How much does boosting cost on Depop in 2026?
- 12% of the item sale price (excluding taxes) for new boosted listings in the US and UK from 23 March 2026, and 8% in Australia and other regions. It is only charged when a boosted item sells.
- Is the boost fee charged on shipping?
- Only when you did not use a Depop Shipping label. With a Depop label the boost is charged on the item price excluding taxes.
- How do I know if boosting paid off?
- Compare the boost cost against the extra sales it produced. On a $35 item a 12% boost costs $4.20 per sale, so boosting has to lift your sell-through enough to cover that on every boosted sale.
